yoga teaching

Over the years my own yoga and my approach to teaching has changed and adapted. Never anything to sudden just that slow creep of gaining knowledge and confidence and allowing it to filter its way in. (more…)

Onwards and Upwards

March 2, 2019

Yoga Movement Studio is in the limbo stage of moving on and up. As I wait for the new studio to be ready I have to keep reminding myself that I do deserve this! I am enough and I have enough and now is the time to grow. I am truly grateful for the journey to here the ups and the downs.

My classes yoga with Sarsha are out growing the space/ studio that is the now home of Yoga Movement Studio.

The new studio will allow me to grow my classes from 8 to 10 places and still provide each person with ample space for movement (the space would be suitable for much bigger classes*). I like to keep my classes personal and prefer to keep spaces limited.

It has taken over 20 years to get here and sometimes I wasn’t sure if I could make it this half this far but here I am standing in the edge of yet more possibilities. There have been challenges and tough times. There have also been some truly wonderful and beautiful times too.

The past five years at studio 5 Bridge Street Gainsborough has been a massive learning curve some lessons easier to take than others.

I thought this studio was it! Several false starts with the move upstairs, so I just thought I’d arrived where I should be here in studio 5. I had no idea all the lessons, the false starts were just preparing me in strength, belief and certainty that I deserve this opportunity. I have my doubts and fears that’s because I’m human, I now know if I don’t take this opportunity I will regret it. Whereas before now I think I would have regretted moving.

Funny how the universe works. ✨

In the past year my classes have grown so much they are out growing the space. Myself and all who attend classes here will have more space to breathe and to grow in the new larger studio which will be the new home of Yoga Movement Studio very soon. ✨

Here’s to opportunity, growth and possibilities.

Here’s to the next chapter and new home of Yoga Movement Studio. And most of all here’s to everyone who has made this possible for me ✨

What a year

2 possibilities

What a year!

This year has brought many changes some wanted, some needed and some very difficult to take.

As a person I have grown, learnt and adapted.
This is in my personal, professional and spiritual life. (I use the term spiritual in a loose term – more in that in another blog) (more…)

out beyond ideasWhen I first came to yoga it was purely on physical level, I wanted my body to feel better and move better. I didn’t want to have to live and be defined by my back pain.

But along the way I became interested in the whole of yoga, physical, spiritual, mental and the ethical. Some of this made me feel like I was failing as yoga practitioner and at times I felt like I was compromising either myself or yoga as I thought it should be. (more…)

more stretching less stressing“I doubt I’ll be able to do yoga because I’m not flexible enough”

Well guess what I was not flexible when I started yoga. The flexibility is a side effect of moving
your body mindfully through safe yet effective ranges of movement.

“I doubt I’ll be able to get the breathing right”

Do not worry everybody thinks that. I often don’t get the perfect connection between body and
breath but it ain’t that bigger deal. It’s called yoga practice for a reason because practice is what
we are doing and sometimes it’s not perfect and that’s ok.

“I doubt I’ll be able to stop my monkey mind”

You don’t have to stop it, but it’s amazing how by giving yourself something else to concentrate
on like movement and breathing that the monkeys all fall asleep anyway.

Do doubt but do it anyway

I believe that yoga is for everyone and doesn’t have to be all fancy and tie yourself in knots (that bit is optional 🙂 . Yoga should be a way to check in with your body and mind and address any icky bits with kindness and love. Everybody has everyday stresses and strains and sometimes we have heavy life loads to carry.

Yoga really cares about you and so do I, I know that yoga even if it’s just once a week can have a significant impact on well-being.

So if you don’t have space or the discipline to practice at home, then I have created a calm, comfortable environment where there is no judgement just friendship and kindness.

So whether you decide to come once a month, once a week or several times a week your mini yoga retreat is here at yoga movement studio.
